A PROFILE OF THE LIVONIA CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

The Livonia Central School District provides a quality, comprehensive program for its 2000 pupils. Instructional services are organized on the basis of a primary school (K-3), intermediate school (4-6), junior high school (7-8) and a high school (9-12). The four schools are located on a 180-acre campus. |
| The school district covers 85 square miles and, for the most part, is located between Hemlock and Conesus Lakes in Livingston County. The area offers many recreational opportunities. A number of colleges and universities are located within a short distance of Livonia's campus. Travel to the City of Rochester is conveniently accommodated by the I-390 Expressway, taking less than 30 minutes from Livonia. |

The David P. DeLoria Primary School has 566 students and a 48 member faculty. The pre-K to grade 3 configuration includes a half day pre-K program and a full day kindergarten. Also housed in the Primary School is the Livonia Reading Clinic, whose mission is to bring the latest literacy research into the classroom. In addition to the excellent academic program, children have the opportunity to participate in musical productions, field trips, and a before school fitness program. The original building was constructed in 1956 with the latest addition of 26 classrooms, cafeteria, and library media center being added in 1993. |
The Raymond Connell Intermediate School is configured for grades 4-6 and houses 430 students and a faculty of 45. A $6.5 million dollar building project completed in 2002 completely renovated the school adding on additional classroom, music, library, office, and cafeteria space. As students transition from childhood to adolescence, a large band and chorus program, clubs and activities, and a variety of intramural sports provide numerous opportunities for student involvement. |

| The Junior High School is located in the 7-12 complex with an enrollment of 305 students and a faculty of 30. The collaborative faculty uses a team approach to help transition students from the intermediate school to the high school. The school offers a strong academic program including high school credit offerings in Science, Math, Spanish, and French. Two full time counselors transition students through ninth grade. There are a wide variety of clubs, activities, modified sports, intramurals, and service opportunities for kids. |

The R.J. Davis Senior High School is located in the 7-12 complex and has a student enrollment of 680 and 55 faculty members. Programs encompass college preparatory, trade and technical areas. Students are offered nine major sequences from which to choose. College credit and Advanced Placement courses are available in a number of subjects. On average, 75 percent of Livonia's high school graduates continue on to higher education. Strong art and music programs attract large numbers of students. Interscholastic academic teams as well as athletic teams earn top honors at county, regional and state competitions. The facility includes art studios specifically structured for pottery, traditional and digital photography, drawing and painting, and textiles, science labs, a music suite, an 860 seat auditorium and a swimming pool. |
| The district has made a major initiative to increase instructional technology throughout the district. Livonia Jr. High school was recognized for its use of SMART board technology throughout its program. The district offers traditional computer labs, wireless laptop carts, and labs specifically designed for content needs such as digital photography, Project Lead the Way's pre-engineering courses, business and computer classes, and library research. |

In addition to each building's full-time principal, the district has a director of special education, a director of athletics and activities, a director of student services, a curriculum coordinator/ staff developer, a high school assistant principal, 6 school counselors, four psychologists and 4.5 speech therapists. Approximately 150 people make up the support staff including: teacher aides, teacher assistants, technical support staff, foodservice, maintenance, custodial, transportation and office personnel. |
