Advanced Placement Studio in Art/Portfolio Development
Pre-requisite: Studio in Art, Design, Drawing and Painting, one additional art elective and art teacher's recommendation.
AP Exam Required
AP Studio Art addresses three major concerns that are constants in the teaching of art: (1) a sense of quality in a students work (2) the students' concentration on a particular visual interest or problem and (3) the student's need for breadth of experience in the formal technical and expressive means of the artist. AP work will reflect these three areas of concern: quality, concentration, and breadth. This course will reflect first year college level standards. Slides of students portfolio work will be submitted for evaluation at the end of the course. Students will be required to submit an AP Portfolio of their artwork. Students are required to incur the cost of the
AP exam, slide film and development costs. Students who score well may earn 3 college credits that may be accepted at most colleges and universities.
