COVID-19 Response - Student Choice Selection Update (10/15/2020)
THIS COMMUNICATION IS ONLY FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO REQUESTED A SWITCH IN THEIR INSTRUCTIONAL MODEL
Thank you for your continued patience and partnership as we move through this challenging and unconventional school year. The student choice selection process closed earlier this week with things overall staying pretty similar to our initial reopening numbers. As we closed this choice selection, we currently have 18% of students choosing our DIgital Learning 2.0 option (down from 22%). This will allow us to maintain our model with 82% of students attending in-person 5 days a week.
Elementary School Transition
We had 39 students in K-5 switch to in-person learning and 6 students switch to Digital Learning 2.0. With these limited changes, Mr. Whittel is currently communicating with families to make the switch starting Monday, October 19. Those students needing transportation may need to wait to start sometime next week as we are reworking bus routes to meet public health limitations on capacity. For those who indicated they will need transportation, our Transportation Department will contact you by the end of next week to help get you started.
Middle/High School Transition
We had 36 students in 6-12 switch to in-person learning and 16 students switch to Digital Learning 2.0. Based on the complexities of master schedule, Mr. Gammon is working with our counselors to rework individual student schedules in a way that will work within our classroom capacity to continue providing a safe in-person experience for all students and staff. Individual students making a switch will be contacted by their counselor with a start date sometime next week. For those who indicated they need transportation, our Transportation Department will contact you by the end of next week to help get you started.
Again, thanks for your continued support as we work together to ensure we keep safely moving forward. Thank you!
