Montreal Trip

  • 3/26/20 Update #3

    Dear Families,

We are all still trying to wrap our heads around the idea that school is closed until further notice. This week, Governor Cuomo signed an Executive Order closing all schools through April 1st. With that order, we now know that any school activities through that date need to be cancelled. Additionally, the District is canceling any international travel for the remainder of the school year. Given this, the trip to Montreal will be cancelled.

The District began the conversation with Cultural Connections Group Tours this week to take the steps to cancel the trip. Cultural Connections has agreed with Jeremy Lonneville, Director of Finance and Human Resources that FULL refunds will be provided in 30-45 days, and the school will cover the small processing fee our agency has to charge. Cultural Connections asks for patience and understanding as it will take some time to get money back from vendors and issue the checks given all the operational limitations in place, both here and in Canada.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. Those of you who have sent in tip money and tee-shirt money will be refunded as soon as I am able to get to school again. Please understand that school is closed to all district personnel with the exception of a few essential people. You will be refunded at a later date.

If you have any questions please reach out to me at morman@livoniacsd.org

    Thank you !

3/20/20 Update #2 - Cultural Connections has agreed to provide a full refund to families and to bill the District for the $50 service fee.  The District will pay this fee for families as it was our decision to cancel the trip.  Any questions can be directed to Mrs. Orman or directly to Cultural Connections. morman@livoniacsd.org or Rachel Bourn at Cultural Connections (rbourn72@gmail.com, 585-697-3590).

3/20/20 Update: Cultural Connections tours provided this update on 3/20/20 -  We will provide a refund of full monies paid less $50 pp processing fee (to cover our agency overhead).  Checks will be mailed to families within 30-45 days (by May 15 latest, but we will try for sooner as we receive funds back on our accounts from our suppliers).

    Dear Families,

With that order, we now know that any school activities through that date need to be cancelled.  Additionally, the District is canceling any international travel for the remainder of the school year. Given this, the trip to Montreal will be cancelled. When we have more information on the timeline moving forward, we will provide more information on future plans

The District began the conversation with Cultural Connections Group Tours this week to take the steps to cancel the trip.  Our goal is to make every attempt possible to have Cultural Connections Group Tours provide a full refund to all families as soon as possible. With the current border closures, we anticipate they will be able to provide a refund. The District Leadership has committed to providing District legal counsel to Culture Connections if needed to pursue refunds from their vendors.

If you purchased travel insurance, please wait until we know how Cultural Connections Group Tours is responding prior to attempting to file a claim on the ticket.

We recognize that while this news is likely expected, it is also disappointing.  For that, we are sorry.

Please contact me if you have any questions,

    Mrs. Orman
