School Resource Officers

  • School Resource Officers (SRO) are sworn law enforcement officers who are responsible for providing security and crime prevention in schools.

School Resource Officers, in addition to being certified police officers, are also Drug Abuse Resistance Educators (DARE) Instructors and receive additional training specific to their SRO duties. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office has deputies in four local schools including Livonia Central School District. School Resource Officers maintain a safe learning and working environment for students and staff alike.

The SRO is available throughout the school year Monday through Friday during school hours starting in September until the end of June.  In the event of an emergency it is important to call 911 if it is something that requires immediate action or you can contact Livingston County Sheriff's Office through the non-emergency number (585) 243-7100.
