Dear Bulldog Families,
Governor Cuomo has announced this past Friday that high-risk winter sports would be allowed to start on February 1 st. Those sports include JV and Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball, JV and Varsity wrestling, and Varsity Hockey. The cheerleading committee has decided the cheer season will wait until the Fall 2 season which is tentatively scheduled to start on March 1 st. The end of the regular season for winter sports will be March 6th, and a closed sectional tournament will end by March 14. Sports specific information including a practice schedule will come from the coach following registration.
Anyone interested in participating in basketball, wrestling, or hockey should complete registration which will open on Wednesday, 1/27/21. Physicals are good for two years due to the COVID situation. Find the sports registration at the Livonia Athletic Website or clicking on the link: https://livonia-ar.rschooltoday.com/
Fall 2 sports will include football, volleyball, and cheerleading. Spring sports would include baseball, golf, boys and girls lacrosse, softball, tennis, outdoor track and field. The season dates are still being discussed and are not approved yet by the Section V Athletic Council. As soon as I get these dates I will send them to families and post them on the athletic website.
I look forward to the athletes competing once again and am grateful our seniors will get a season. Practices, contests, and all aspects will look different as we follow the COVID-19 protocols and make health and safety a top priority. Even though Governor Cuomo is allowing high-risk sports to begin there is still risk involved so I encourage each family to have a candid conversation regarding the risks and come to a decision that is best for each family. If there are questions or concerns that you would like to discuss, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Thank you and Go Bulldogs!
