Honored Once Again with National Recognition from The NAMM Foundation

Livonia, NY – May 2025 – Livonia Central School District has once again been named one of the

Best Communities for Music Education by The NAMM Foundation, a national recognition celebrating outstanding support for music learning and access in schools. This prestigious designation reflects Livonia’s long-standing commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to experience the joy and power of music education.

Now in its 26th year, the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) award recognizes districts across the United States that demonstrate exceptional dedication to music programs through funding, staffing, curriculum, and community support. Livonia’s return to this honor highlights the district’s investment in music as an essential part of a well-rounded Bulldog education.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized once again as one of the Best Communities for Music Education,” said Dr. Jeremy Lonneville, Superintendent of Schools. “This award reflects the deep-rooted support from our Board of Education, staff, families, and community members who believe in the value of music as a tool for learning, growth, and expression.”

From beginner recorders in elementary classrooms to jazz bands and musical productions on the MHS stage, music is alive and well at Livonia. The district's music department engages students across all grade levels in vocal, instrumental, and general music, creating a vibrant culture of creativity and Bulldog pride.

“This recognition is a reflection of the tireless work and passion of our music educators and students,” added Mark Petelin, Music Department Chair. “It’s also a testament to the support we receive from families and the Livonia community who show up for every concert, musical, and event. We are thrilled to bring this award home again.”

To earn the Best Communities designation, Livonia CSD completed an extensive application process covering areas such as music class participation, instruction time, funding, facilities, and community engagement. All responses were verified by district leadership and reviewed by WolfBrown, an arts education research firm.

This year, more than 1,000 districts and individual schools across the U.S. were recognized by The NAMM Foundation for their commitment to providing high-quality music education. Livonia is proud to be counted among them—once again raising the bar for excellence in the arts.
