LIVONIA, NY – February 28, 2024 – The Livonia Central School District is proud to announce the appointment of Richard Ellis as the new Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics. The Board of Education has unanimously selected Mr. Ellis for this vital role, recognizing his extensive qualifications and commitment to educational excellence.

Mr. Ellis, an experienced educator and administrator, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the position. Prior to transitioning into school administration, Mr. Ellis began his career as an Athletic Trainer before spending time as a Health and Physical Education Teacher.  Most recently, Rick has spent the last decade as an administrator in the Warsaw Central School District serving as Assistant Principal, Principal and Director of Special Services.  Mr. Ellis holds a Master’s degree in education and possesses both New York State Certification as a School District Leader, School Building Leader and has Teaching Certifications in Health and Physical Education. His background demonstrates a strong track record in promoting student well-being, athletic excellence, and effective program management.

In his new role, Mr. Ellis will oversee the district's athletic programs, physical and health education curriculum, and lead initiatives to foster an environment of inclusivity and excellence in sports and health education. His responsibilities will include developing short- and long-term goals for the improvement of the Athletics programs, supervising and evaluating athletic coaches, and coordinating the athletic schedule across the district.   

The district also extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mike Bromley, who has diligently served as the interim Director of Athletics. Mr. Bromley's commitment and leadership have been instrumental in maintaining the continuity and quality of our programs. He will work closely with Mr. Ellis in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr. Ellis will officially begin his tenure on March 25. The Livonia Central School District is excited to welcome him aboard and looks forward to his contributions to enhancing the experiences of our students in health, physical education, and athletics.
