Dear Livonia Families,

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support. With the various news reports, social media, and diverse perspectives the last 24 hours has certainly been interesting, challenging, frustrating, and exhausting for many of us, for many reasons. As Bulldog Country demonstrates, time and time again, sticking together to support one another makes all the difference in how we persevere through adversity – Bulldog Strong!

This afternoon, a New York State Appellate Court Judge granted a stay in New York State’s lawsuit over the COVID-19 mask mandate for public schools. This ruling means that the current mask mandate remains in effect for schools across the state as the litigation process proceeds.

Shortly following the Appellate Court’s decision, we received notification from New York State Education Department reaffirming that all students, staff, and visitors to public schools must wear masks while indoors. As with any other of the many mandates, regulations, and guidelines issued by New York State Education Department, the District is required to comply.

We will continue to closely monitor the litigation process and keep you informed throughout the coming days and perhaps weeks as this matter moves forward.

Therefore, until further communication, we are continuing to require that all individuals within school buildings wear masks while indoors. We will keep you informed when, and if, this requirement changes for schools.

Again, thank you for working with us through this challenging time.

Stay Healthy & Be Well,

Matt Cole, Superintendent
