Friday Night Lights 🏈On Friday night, the Livonia Bulldogs hosted the Leroy Oatkan Knights in their last home game of the season. This game was also Senior night for all of those seniors playing in their last game at Saunders Field. The band provided for another festive and exciting atmosphere. The Bulldogs played hard and lost to a very talented Leroy team 42-21. Leroy got on the board first and then put up 2 more scores to take an early 21-0 lead before Livonia found the end-zone in the 2nd quarter. Jackson Trubia connected with Owen Wetterings for a 30 yard TD pass to cut into Leroy's lead at 21-7. A turnover late in the 2nd quarter gave Leroy good field position and they capitalized and scored to make it a 29-7 to take a half-time lead. The Bulldogs came out of halftime, looking to win the 2nd half which they did. After a 3rd quarter Leroy TD pushing Leroy's lead to 35 to 7, the boys came out swinging in the 4th quarter as Jackson Trubia once again connected with Owen Wetterings on a TD pass from 23 yards out. Leroy would counter with a score of its own in the 4th quarter before Livonia would finish out their scoring with AJ Peri who would run it in from 5 yards out to make the score 42-21. The Bulldogs would rely on some tough running from AJ Perri who finished with 58 yards in the game (All of which were on Livonia's last scoring drive). Levi Woolston connected on all 3 Point After Touchdown kicks in this game. Livonia was led offensively on this night by 3 seniors. Jackson Trubia thre for 102 yards and 2 Touchdowns to Owen Wetterings, while AJ Peri contributed with a Touchdown run and 58 yards on the ground. Defensively, the Bulldogs were led by Seniors Owen Wetterings (12 tackles), Kyle Wetterings (7 tackles), Alex Bohrer (6 tackles), Jackson Cook (5 tackles), Zach Williamson (5 tackles) and Jared Bishop (4 tackles). The coaching staff would like to thank all of the Seniors for their commitment to the football program. These Seniors include Jared Bishop, Alex Bohrer, Rayvon Butler, Jackson Cook, Thomas Frisbie, AJ Peri, Thomas Stewart, Jackson Trubia, Carlos Vega Meyer, Owen Wetterings, Kyle Wetterings, Zach Williamson, Levi Woolston and Wyatt Zeismer. ⚽Girls JV Soccer Season Wrap-up The girls ended their season with resounding wins over several formidable opponents last week. On Wednesday, a strong defensive wall squelched the pressure of a speedy, high-powered HFL attack led by defenders, Maddie, Natalee, and Chloe. Ella continuously controlled the mid-field with calculated distribution of the ball and the Maxwell twins combined for the goals to secure the 2-0 victory. In their final game Friday, the girls faced another big challenge of the season but successfully shut out visiting Aquinas, 2-0. Sunny tallied the two goals with tenacious crashing of the net and the team's constant pressure resulted in 10 corner kicks in the game. Over the season, this team worked very hard at learning the concepts of soccer while improving on their individual skills. They willingly took risks to improve their own game as well as their play as a team. Their final team record was 14-0-2. The overall goal differential speaks to the balanced effort of both the defense and the offense with the team giving up a mere 3 goals on the season which included a penalty kick and a direct kick score, and tallying as a team, an impressive 75 goals. The team demonstrated patience and great sportsmanship in games where they dominated their opponent. Coach Wood is very proud of this team and their growth this year! The team would like to thank Mr. Kress and Mrs. Schubert as well as the girls soccer program coaching staff: Coaches, Bugbee, English, and Linsner for their support and work in the program this year. Our next league match is at home on Tuesday against Dansville. 🏈On Friday night, the Bulldogs traveled to Attica to face the Attica-Alexander football team. Livonia came into the game looking to upset a tough and talented Attica-Alexander squad that was 4-1 on the year. The evening started out strong for Livonia as they received the opening kickoff and strung together 4 first downs to include a Jackson Trubia 11-yard pass to Kyle Wetterings to move the ball to the A-A 40-yard line. The drive would stall and A-A would take over. Livonia's defense would play tough and force an A-A punt on the first series. The Bulldogs were unable to gain any momentum on Offense and would give the ball back to A-A who would score late in the 1st quarter for a 7-0 lead. A-A would also score early in the 2nd quarter for a 14-0 lead. Livonia played a tough 1st half but gave up another score late in the 2nd quarter to go into halftime with a 21-0 deficit. The Bulldogs were unable to gain much momentum in the 2nd half and dealt with some in-game injuries that pressed some younger players into action. JV call-ups Jacob Benitez, Andy Crilly, Logan Pressler, Carter Breu, and Seth Eadie saw some of their first Varsity action as Eadie got reps in at QB for the injured Trubia. A-A would score 3 more times in the 2nd half and the Bulldogs would ultimately fall 42-0 to A-A. Owen Wetterings (26 yards) and Kyle Wetterings (23 yards) led the Bulldogs on offense. Jackson Cook (5 tackles - 1 Interception) and Zach Williamson (5 tackles - 1 fumble recovery) would lead the defense while Jacob Casson would also chip in on 5 tackles. The Bulldogs face another tough opponent next Friday night against Leroy. The game is the final Home game of the year and is also Senior Night. Game time is 7 pm while Senior Night recognition gets underway at 6:15 pm ⚽On Friday your JV girls' soccer team traveled to Pal-Mac and defeated the Red Raiders 5-0. The team showed off their diverse scoring abilities earning a goal on a two-touch corner kick by Beach and Ella, a penalty shot by Blair and a head ball goal by Sunny. Sunny also assisted on goals by Ava and Reghan. The defense did a fine job controlling the midfield and neutralizing the speed of their opponent. Last night, the JV girls' soccer team met the challenge of the Batavia Blue Devils, winning 4-0. The team overcame many difficult situations, slowing down the attack and working hard to retain possession of the ball. Molly Hitchcock scored twice on long kicks and Brooke and Sunny each chipped in a goal. Karly played tough in the goal with help from the defense. The last home game will be played this Friday on the varsity field at 5 pm vs. Aquinas. ⚽The modified boys traveled to Leroy Saturday morning and came away with a 9-0 win. The Bulldogs passed the ball around the Knights setting up scoring chances all game. Hunter Jones held Leroy scoreless with a HUGE penalty kick save! Scoring for the Bulldogs: Madix Wheeler Cavan Dennis Caleb Martin x2 Logan Swift x2 Max Roberts x3
