Principal’s Message
Dear Students, Parents, Staff, and Community Members,
As we wrap up another school year at Livonia Middle/High School, I want to take a moment to reflect on some of the key moments that made this year memorable.
We recently celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2025. It was a meaningful milestone for our seniors and a time to recognize the work, growth, and character they’ve shown throughout their time here. It was a proud day for students, families, and staff alike.
One long-standing tradition that continued this year was Senior Fun Night. For 27 years, this event has given our graduating students a final chance to come together and enjoy each other’s company. This year’s trip included whitewater rafting and Laser Tron. It was a night full of shared experiences, laughter, fireworks, a parade and a sense of closing one chapter while looking ahead to the next.
Earlier in the spring, our student artists presented their work at the annual art show. The variety of projects on display showed not just creativity, but the effort and growth that went into each piece. It’s always rewarding to see what students produce when they have the space and support to express themselves.
Prom gave our juniors and seniors the opportunity to celebrate together. It was a night filled with music, dancing, and time with friends. These social events matter just as much as what happens in the classroom because they help build a sense of connection and community.
Our jazz, band and chorus students also shared their talents at the annual concert. These students have practiced together throughout the year, and their performance was a reflection of their focus and teamwork. It’s a reminder of how the arts continue to be a vital part of our school life.
One event that always stands out is Dawg Days. It’s a day centered around participation, encouragement, and celebration. Seeing students support one another and take part in friendly competition is something we all look forward to.
It was also the first spring season where we had full use of the new turf facilities at the Saunders Sports Complex. Whether it was lacrosse, softball, baseball, flag football or just a community event, the space gave students a high-quality place to compete and come together. The energy around athletics this spring was electric. Teams felt it, fans felt it, and it brought a new level of excitement to our campus.
Another highlight of the year was the annual trip to Gettysburg and Washington, D.C., led by Mr. Genthner and attended by our junior AP U.S. History students. The group visited the historic battlefield at Gettysburg, toured the Smithsonian museums, and walked among the monuments that reflect the nation’s story. A particularly special moment came when the group was invited to a private meeting with Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. This was truly an unforgettable experience.
Looking ahead, one important change for next year is that the main office will be relocating. Starting in the fall, the office will be situated near the new digital sign by the auditorium foyer, offering easier access for visitors and a more central spot for students and families.
As we head into summer, I want to thank everyone who helped make this year a success. From staff and families to the students who show up every day and put in the work, you did it! I hope everyone has a restful and safe break, and we look forward to seeing you again in the fall.
Warm regards,
Dr. Michael Calzi
