Back to School Tip of the Day graphic with images of health services. As we get ready to head back to school, here are a few important reminders from our Health Services team.

If your child will be absent or late to school, please notify your child’s school nurse. This helps us keep track of the safety and well-being of our students and helps the Health Office monitor illnesses that may be circulating through our schools.

When should my child stay home?
Please keep your child home if they have:

  • A fever of 100°F or higher. Students should be fever-free for a full 24 hours before returning.
  • Vomiting or diarrhea. Students may return after 24 hours without vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Strep throat. Students must be on antibiotics for a full 24 hours before returning.
  • A contagious rash.
  • A suspicious or unexplained rash. Students should remain home until evaluated by their doctor.
  • A recommendation from their doctor to remain home.
Not sure what to do? Please get in touch with your school nurse. They are happy to answer questions and help you determine the best next step.
